PHOTOCONTAINER will be held from November 19th to December 20th in the evocative MRF space. Former heartbeat of Turin car economy, since 2005 it has been the key player in a redevelopment project that will lead to an evolution of the Mirafiori district, in order to establish itself as a new cultural center in a city that is increasingly emerging in the international contemporary art scene.
TNE (Torino Nuova Economia), a public company consisting of the City of Turin, theMetropolitan City of Turin, the Piedmont Region and FCA (FIAT Chrysler Automobiles), has found in Photissima an ideal partner to give new impulse to its mission of redevelopment and reuse of abandoned areas of FIAT SpA. This new edition presents itself in a totally updated guise: each exhibitor will set up his/her artworks in acontainer, in order to preserve the original spirit of the place.
The event, organized as a photography fair and festival, will involve Italian and international gallerists and photographers that will reveal the new horizons of what is now to be considered art in all respects.
Every November the city lights up with numerous cultural events, becoming a focal point not only in Italy but – thanks to its position – in Europe. Many projects dedicated to contemporary art make of Torino a breeding ground of new ideas.
The birthplace of the Biennial of Art and Architecture, known to be one of the five most important event in the world dedicated to contemporary art. For the 2015 edition, Photissima has already reserved 2000 sqm in the city centre, flanking the Biennial with its photography exhibition.
Photissima Art Fair, represents the ideal forum for photographers, galleries and artists that want their artworks to be exhibited to a wide national and international public of buyers, critics, institutions, corporate heads and very influential people who make up the Photissima Art Fair audience.
Photissima Festival is the cultural heart of the event: a unique and critically acclaimed programme of exhibitions, debates, panel discussions, keynote lectures and workshops on photography held by international guests – not only photographers, but also writers, philosophers, historians.
